Rode to lunch from first rest stop. We stopped at Pattersonville VFD for hot dogs and burgers. We rode 1 mile (bad distance to short) to the afternoon rest stop. We laid on a picnic table and watched Mohawk sky diving people come down and land, while looking at the river and feeling and hearing the great breeze. After that we went at 15-18 mph and we hit familiar territory we kept going at the same pace and finished the day at Collins park at 1:20pm for a total of 41.6 miles in 3 hours in 90 degree weather and clear skies.
Random thoughts from the road and smells that one may experience along the road or canal trail:
Car exhaust, summer cut grass baking in sun, cotton candy, dead animals, garbage dump, diesel trucks, smelly water, rain, after rain, tent, bad socks, wet gloves and hands.
We are 37 miles to Albany and our goal. This last night we are camping again in the tent. Our home is only 4 Miles away. However, Patrick decided days ago no bailing is allowed. Both of us are in this trip to Albany. One thing I am ever more convinced about now is Patrick’s goal driven character. He should be proud to stand and tell all of his ride. He was strong in the heat, in the rain and on the hills. No complaints came from his mouth. He and I are both sad that our sore butts are over.
