Ride Across NYS July 12, 2010

12 Jul 2010 by David in Cystic Fibrosis, Hopmeier Evans Gage Insurance / No Comments

Well ‘my’ air mattress did leak. Two causes, bad mattress or Dave is too big? We will see how the situation changes as I peddle off the pounds.

Up and out of the tent at 5:30am, now waiting to wake up Patrick.  The sleeping was like a bad hotel the first night at best. The good news – the coffee is good.

The route today looks like mostly trail. Boy that dust gets in your mouth and eyes.

Oh, did I mention the cramps in my legs?  Note, must drink more.

    11:25am

Just got a flat tire… I think the reason for the flat on my air mattress and my tire might be the same.

    Summary of the day

Today we had a 56 mile day. We started out on gravel for 20 miles then we hit our morning rest stop. However as we pulled in, my dad felt his back tire become squishy and he knew he got a flat. He had it fixed by the bike repairman truck and got a new tube. After the rest stop we rode for a while and stopped at a rite-aid and bought some monkey butt powder.  We were still riding on gravel when we got to a town called Spencer Port, where we stopped at eclipse cafe to have lunch. We kept riding on gravel after lunch for about 7 miles then hit pavement which felt amazing. We ended today at Nazareth College in Pittsford.
