As you are aware, the Niskayuna Police Department is investigating a personal injury, hit and run accident. In this accident, which occurred on 03/13/2012 at 8:00pm, a mother and her four children were injured when the Nissan Sentra they were riding in was rear-ended at a stop light. All of the occupants were transported to local hospitals, one by Life-Net helicopter. Fortunately, as it turned out, the injuries sustained were not life threatening.
According to witnesses at the scene, the striking vehicle is described as a full size pick up truck, black or gray in color. The pick-up fled the scene and was last seen travelling westbound into the City of Schenectady, the direction it was heading prior to the accident. It likely sustained significant front end damage. We are following certain leads in hopes of determining a make and model for the pick up, but do not have that information at this time.
Given your interaction with local insurance agencies, I was hoping you might forward this information to any contacts you might have in hopes that someone in the field might be able to provide us with any information (even anonymously) that could assist us in identifying the vehicle and driver involved.
I really appreciate your help in this matter.
Sincerely,
Detective Sergeant Dan McManus
